thank you for the kind words and the valuable additional reflection, Helen. So often, life has helped us point to and even head in the right direction. Drift is inevitable. A return to hearing and heeding our life speaking to us so it can continue to speak through us is a choice.
Yeah and the truth is that there’s been both shift and drift. Thanks again for this distinction. And I appreciate too this idea of return as a practice.
Calling drift "Tuesday" perfectly captures how we slip off course without any dramatic decision. The real trap seems to be when we start using the language of a "shift" to cover up that slow accumulation of inattention. That reminder that the goal isn't perfect consistency, but the speed of repair, is a much more durable practice.
What a lovely and evocative way to reframe this. Thank you, Ania. Attention compounds, for sure, and it can compound misdirection or stuckness just as easily as our progress if we don't invest it wisely!
That is generous, Ania. Thank you. I'm glad these reflections about the difference between drift and shift were useful to you. Be well. Do good. And have fun!
Sorry I didn’t make it after all. My husband came back from work early and the wonderful weather invited us to take a walk. Hope you had a great time though!
(Won’t be able to make it today either, we have another public holiday here which means family time ;-))
Thank you Scott for this vital distinction - and helping to remind to stick to following through - albeit not in the direction originally intended.

This is on point for me this morning. The distinction helps me dig into what’s already been on my mind: wtf happened to my business?!
I appreciate this feedback, Brian. FWIW, I have asked myself that very question hundreds of times over the last 10 years!

Me too. That we can return to the practice places the ultimate responsibility for our progress and peace of mind on ourselves.

To be frank, your article inspired me to write a note. I will acknowledge your insights while publishing it. Thank you again for a great post.

Looking forward to the call, Scott!
Me too, Judith. See you there!

I appreciate the restock, Ga. Thank you!
