[CASEY] In the movie Coming to America... So, Eddie Murphy is playing this Jewish guy who comes into the barber shop and he tells this joke.
“Waiter taste the soup.”
“Okay, what is it too hot it's too cold?”
“No waiter, taste the soup.”
“Okay, I mean is it too salty? What's wrong?”
“Waiter, just taste the soup.”
Then the waiter goes, “Okay, fine, where's the spoon?”
“Ah…”

I love this as metaphor for like when we've talked about how you can work backwards and find the step before the step. You can think, “Okay, so that's the thing I need to do. Great.”
Then you realize where the missing spoon is.
This it can lead to some, you know, some sort of yak shaving where you're like having to do ten things before you get to THE thing. But that's all part of it.
But that can sometimes help us isolate the thing that's missing that we have to resolve and especially if it's a practical action like, “Oh yeah, of course, if I want to taste the soup I need a spoon to be able to do that and we've tricked ourselves into finding the problem.”
